Use It or Lose it!

My mentor, and most loved non-mother-motherly type always said, "God gives us gifts. If you don't use it, He'll give it to someone who will."

I don't know why that struck SUCH a chord with me, but that one particular day when she said it, I knew God was speaking straight to me.

That was 4 years ago.

Since then I have started my own little beaded jewelry business, became one of the founding chairs of the Durham Craft Market and now I'm working on branching out and all over the place with my newest jewelry sensation. Tangles. Born completely of frustration. (that story to come later)

I don't have an art degree. It took a very long time for me to accept that I had even and ounce of talent. I, like many visual artists, are entirely too self-conscious and putting our work out for public scrutiny is down right scary.

I admire people who create art and I always try put myself in the role of the student. Another wise friend of mine suggested that I do so. I support local art, even though I admittedly will always utter..."oh, I could make that..." (Hey, you do it too from time to time!)

I love to see young people flexing their creative muscles and tend to imagine what got them there or where they may end up. I was there once, a youth drawing to the best of my ability, receiving some recognition but ultimately never pursuing it. Until now.

This blog is all about the process, the evolution of creativity, the musings of a beader/artist/writer/crafter/artisan/silly girl.
